ABOUT

Richard (Rick) Heath

From 1977 through 2012, Richard (Rick) Heath was a cast member of, and artist for, Le Grand David and his own Spectacular Magic Company, the long-running stage magic troupe that owned and performed at the Cabot Street and Larcom Theatres in Beverly, Massachusetts.

A new chapter in his life began shortly after the death of the company’s Founder and Director, Cesareo Pelaez, in March 2012, and the troupe’s completion of its 35th season two months later. After a trip to Amsterdam and Florence to immerse himself in Dutch and Renaissance art, and concurrent with two Le Grand David auctions and the sale of the two theatres, he launched his own business, Magician With A Paintbrush, and began to build, paint and restore magic for magicians and collectors. His current works, as well as those produced during the Le Grand David years, now appear in private collections from coast to coast. He continues to accept commissions for one-of-a-kind custom pieces.

Rick is a Lifetime Member of the Academy of Magical Arts and a 2002 recipient of a Special Fellowship Award in Graphic Design from the Academy. He has been a member of the Society of American Magicians since 1979, and a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians (Order of Merlin, Shield) since 1981. In July 2014, he was honored with the Milbourne Christopher Foundation’s Award for Visual Magic.
